My name is Kevin Frick, I celebrate human expression and emotion through expressive nature photography. My commitment is to continue to express my inner landscape through the lens using the canvas of our world.

I started photographing in 2015 with a little used camera and a void to fill. As we all do at times, I struggled to make sense of life and needed purpose. Although my children were my life, something was calling me to find a passion within myself. During my search, I pondered, “What did I want to be when I grew up?” Well, I wanted to be a National Geographic Photographer. I had always loved nature and wanted to explore it with a camera. I wanted to share the places I visited and the unique way I saw them with others.
So, I began my journey. I had no real experience with photography or art. So, I read books and watched many YouTube videos. I took lots and lots of photographs, most of which were very literal. Slowly, I learned to slow down and to breathe again. I drew upon my background as a mental health therapist and began to notice how I was feeling during the exploration process. I immersed myself more in my surroundings, working to become part of the landscapes that I loved. I learned how to slow down and to listen, how to smell, how to touch, and how to feel again. In doing so, I was able to stop chasing light and start producing photographs that became a light to myself and others. Art found its way into my soul and transformed me, much as nature had.
Now, I am focusing on becoming a better artist and a better person every day. I am not trying to follow the paths of those before me, but rather I am looking to get to know myself and all of creation better. I am currently teaching high school in Webster County, West Virginia but I hope to become a full-time artist soon. I invite you to join me in my explorations. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
My Unique Approach to Photography
Intuitive Exploration
My photography begins with an intuitive exploration of nature, allowing me to connect with the environment deeply. By spending significant time outdoors, I capture moments that resonate emotionally and authentically.
Celebrating Subtle Beauty
I focus on celebrating the subtle beauty that exists in the world around us. Avoiding common scenes, I seek out unique perspectives and abstractions that convey the often-overlooked elegance present in nature.
