Kevin W. Frick
Expressive Arts PhotographeR
Kevin Frick is a creative, expressive artist working primarily in the medium of photography. He sometimes uses introspective writing to accentuate his photographs. He seeks to express the workings of his inner landscape through the lens. Embedded in each of his photographs is a passion for the natural world. He focuses on using light to enhance emotion and accentuate the subtleties in his subjects.
Kevin started photographing in 2015 with a little used camera and a void to fill. He took lots of photographs, most of which were very literal. But he learned to slow down; to breathe again. He drew upon his background as a therapist and learned to notice how he was feeling. He immersed himself more in his surroundings, working to become part of the landscape. He learned how to listen, how to smell, how to touch, and how to feel again. In doing so, Kevin was able to stop chasing light and start producing photographs that became a light to himself and others. His work focuses on avoiding the scenes frequently photographed by others and on finding the beauty that is often under-visited or overlooked.
Kevin hopes that his photographs bring each viewer a sense of wonder and a desire to get out into the wilderness and see things that they would not have noticed before. Moreover, he hopes that his work inspires a love for life and for the preservation of the wilderness.
